Midweek Updates
Legion 2 and Columbus United
Legion 2 came into their game against East Atlanta looking to turn things around. These two teams faced each other in the first game of the season, and drew 1-1. For the Hammers, this was the final game out of four in just six days. By contrast, East ATL hadn't played in 11 days. This was a very even match, with both sides moving the ball well and creating a few chances. East ATL scored first, and had a 1-0 lead going into halftime. The second half was much like the first, with both teams putting the ball into the net. Final score 2-2. A great result on the road to end this four game stretch over six days.

The other Wed game featured Columbus United against Pensacola, the top team in the table. In their recent match, Pensacola came out on top 2-1. This was Columbus’ second home game, the first of a three game homestand. The crowd for this game was smaller than their first home game, but looked to be a few hundred spectators (I haven't seen any published attendance numbers yet). Not bad for a mid-week game, being played at the same time the USMNT was taking on Brazil. Pensacola plays a very fluid style, and handles the ball well. Columbus is good at maintaining possession and being aggressive going forward. CU controlled the pace of the game, and took a 1-0 lead into halftime. Both teams pushed hard in the second half, but neither managed to score. Columbus gets an important win to get all three points, 1-0.

That's amazing that there were hundreds of fans, indeed while the USMNT was playing a game that arguably was critical to save Coach Greg B.'s job! DId the fans have to purchase tickets to attend either game (and how much were tickets)?
