WEEK AHEAD PREVIEW
Week of Sat 6/8 - Fri 6/14 all times Central
Birmingham Legion
Sunday June 9 vs Indy Eleven 6:00
The first meeting of 2024 between these two clubs. Indy started the season with tough games where they earned draws or fell short. They've had a nice run in the Open Cup, and controversy surrounding MLS possibly dropping into their market seems to have inspired them. They've gone undefeated in ten straight matches in all competitions.
Huntsville City FC
Saturday June 8 vs Crown Legacy 7:00
Crown Legacy is a stereotypical mid-table team. They score goals at about the same rate that they allow them, and win/lose/draw evenly. As an opponent, that's a real grab-bag of results - there's no telling what you'll get. Huntsville needs to play close, and see if they can build on last week's big win.
USL2
Legion 2
An insane week sees the Hammers with three games scheduled .
Saturday June 8 at Southern Soccer Academy 3:00
The Hammers faced SSA a week ago, and were beaten soundly 0-5. They need to find a way to make a quick turnaround.
Sunday June 9 vs Athens United 8:30
This game will be at Protective Stadium, and follows the Legion game against Indy Eleven. These two teams played to a 1-1 draw in Athens earlier the season. How will the Hammers respond on a one day turnaround?
Wed June 12 at East Atlanta 6:30
East ATL has been a tough team for everyone they've played so far, and they've had mixed results. Legion 2 earned a draw against them in the first game of the season. Fatigue will be a real concern.
Dothan United Dragons
Saturday June 8 vs Asheville City 7:00
This is a big match-up between two of the top teams in the division. Dothan took a loss mid-week againsr Athens, possibly looking ahead. Asheville played Legion 2 on the road Thursday, and is on the road again just two days later. Will the quick turnaround give Dothan an advantage?

Alabama FC South
Saturday June 8 at Sowegans 7:15
The Storm come into this game in first place, but the Turtles can flip the script if they win. A single point separates these two teams in the table. Sowegans have 9 points, all from three recent wins in a row. ALFCS has also teased a change or update for a team/mascot to be announced in the coming days.
AFC Mobile
Saturday June 8 vs PensacolaBayUnited 7:15
AFC played a close game against Union 10 this week, falling 1-2. It was a heart-breaker against their rivals, and was the best game they've played this season. They need a close game here to build some momentum.
Union 10
Saturday June 8 at Florida Roots 7:15
Union 10 pulled out a late victory against AFC on Wed, and will be looking for an upset against the Roots. U10 has a strong defense, and has a chance to get some points.
UPSL
FC Birmingham
Saturday June 8 at LegendsFC 2:00
FCB looks to finish the Spring season on a positive note. They're facing a Legends squad that sits one place below them in the table. This should be a close match.
Other news and tidbits
Birmingham Legion WFC
Saturday June 8 at Southern Soccer Academy 8:00
After earning a come-from-behind draw against SSA last week, the Three Sparks will look to learn from that match and get the win.
Monday June 10 at Tennessee SC 7:30
TN came out of the gate very strong to start the season, scoring goals in bunches. That includes a 15-0 beat-down of Athens.
Fountain City FC (UPSL) plays Saturday June 8 at Middle Georgia United in the final game of the Spring season. Fountain City should come into this game focused on closing out their first season undefeated.
Columbus United FC (NPSL) has a rare mid-week match Wed June 12 vs Pensacola 6:00. Another good home crowd can help boost the club. Look for a second win in a row for Columbus.
