The Spring season for UPSL Premier begins this weekend, with two Lower Alabama teams playing.
FC Birmingham at North Georgia United Sat Mar 1 at 6:00
North Georgia finished the Fall season in fourth place in the division, and will be an early test for FCB on the road. N Georgia played a wide open style, scoring a lot of goals (45), but also conceding at a high rate (26). The unusual twist is that Bham was a much better road team than home in the Fall, earning four of their five wins away. FCB will need to keep the game in control if they want to pull an upset.
FC Columbus Elite at Dalton United Sat Mar 1 at 5:00
FC Columbus’ first year saw them grow in strength from Spring to Fall, earning a promotion from Division 1 to Premier. They'll be thrown right into the fire with a trip to Dalton. Dalton United is consistently one of the top teams in the league, finishing second in both the Fall and Spring. They don't put quite as many goals in as some other teams, but are solid on both ends. Elite waa a team that scored at a high rate, while also playing tight defensively. This game will be a huge indicator, seeing if Elite is truly going to compete at the higher level.
Fountain City FC starts play for the Spring season on Saturday March 8.
At this time, schedules for Division 1 haven't been released.
