Legion 2 wraps up (Updated)
And a couple of tidbits
Monday evening Legion 2 closed out their season at Tennessee SC. TN was second place in the division behind Asheville City, but out of the playoff picture. The Hammers scored the first goal ten minutes into the game, and TN answered just a few minutes later. Legion 2 were unable to get anything else going after that, and TN scored two more to take a 3-1 lead into halftime. The second half was a defensive struggle with no more goals added. Legion loses 1-3. They're the first team in the division to wrap their season.
Elsewhere
[Update- this game has been rescheduled for July 11] Dothan United has added another home friendly to their schedule. They announced it a couple of days ago, and it will be interesting to see how many people turn out (they've possibly gotsome thunderstorms in the forecast). At any rate, the game will be against Swan City, a USL2 club from Lakeland, FL that's middle of the table in their division. Given the support that the Dragons have had, adding friendlies like this is a great way to extend the season.
Finally, I don't think I can be here talking about soccer without at least acknowledging the USMNT game in Copa America. The US was hosting the tourney, and got bounced out after losing to Uruguay 0-1. My personal opinion is that they need to fire the coach and move on, hoping to have a better showing at the World Cup in 2026. In seven years as the USMNT coach, Berhalter has never beaten a top 25 FIFA-ranked team that wasn't in CONCACAF. That's not the recipe for international success.
