Huntsville faced Carolina Core

Huntsville City hosted Carolina Core for their second match-up of the season. These are the bottom two teams in the NextPro Eastern Conference, with Huntsville hopping over Core in recent weeks. Part of that was due to the HV win over them a couple of weeks ago. On a hot, humid night Carolina dominated possession, and had the most chances - but couldn't capitalize. They had 16 shots to Huntsville's 5, 10 corners to Huntsville's 1, and 65% of the possession. Somehow, Huntsville scored first in the 78th minute. The Core would answer just a few minutes later, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw. In the ensuing shootout, Core put one more in than the Boys in Blue to collect an extra point.
Meanwhile….
Charleston came out of their funk to beat North Carolina FC 5-2. Legion faces the Battery next Friday night.
Memphis hosted defending champion Phoenix Rising, and dominated them 5-1. Five different players scored, including former Legion player Marlon Santos, and Birmingham native Nighte Pickering.
