Welcome to Lower Alabama
Not the territory, the soccer landscape
Thank you for dropping by. There's some amazing content out there related to lower division soccer in the United States. I'm not here with any illusions of doing it better, and hope to avoid too much crossover. If you're looking for great soccer content with a lot of depth, I highly recommend two places to go, stay, and return regularly:
Beyond the 90
And, Protagonist Soccer

These are my go-to, every day sources of great soccer content.
For Lower Alabama, I'm going to aggregate some basic information, and my personal thoughts and experiences as they relate to lower division soccer in my home state. Just on the men's side, the sport has grown rapidly in recent years. We have two professional teams, and six amateur/semi-pro teams. The fragmented nature of the sport, and rapid expansion, means that awareness of the scope of the sport here is pretty low. I hope to do my part to improve that.
My ask is simple. Find a club/team near you, and go to a match. There's absolutely no substitute for seeing a game in person, and these teams need supporters.
Lastly, I'm not in this for any reason other than my enjoyment of the game, and hoping to bring others to the sport. Please subscribe, just to receive updates for new posts. This Substack will never go to a paid subscription model - it will remain free.
